Next Stop: Counterculture Main Station by Serge Medoff

I have always had a soft spot for composers who mix the spoken work and music and so I was very keen to listen to Serge’s track, “Next Stop: Counterculture Main Station“. It’s a great little ditty with some nice samples, all based around a train journey, and a repetitive beat that makes you think of being on that morning commuter train to work. Not quite Kraftwerk and TEE more a, dare I say, “happy” train rolling through the suburbs.
Then there is the political undertone to the whole track and the idea of mass transportation being part of the counter culture. It’s nice to see musicians making statements about world issues. By the end of the journey the simple beat had worked it’s magic and what I needed was the rest of the story….. so Serge where are we going next? All change!
