Music updates from artists in the Fedi who distribute songs on fair platforms.

NHAM is an online music magazine for all things Fedi-music. It draws connections between indie musicians, fair distribution platforms and listeners, under a shared ethos.

We publish regular new music releases, reviews and news from the community to an audience of thousands of unique daily visitors.

As the go-to music curation platform in the Fediverse NHAM also hosts music videos, has a radio channel and contains gig listings for both real life and online performances.

We aim to help develop and nurture the ecosystem which envelopes all of the fair platforms that currently support indie artists in The Fediverse, and in turn enhance discovery, distribution, attribution, fair artist payment, consent and trust. Interoperability and community are key to making this work.

“How do I connect with artists on the Fediverse?” Cheat Sheet

This question crops up regularly on the fediverse, so here is a cheat sheet that should help anyone interested in finding fedi music and connecting with fedi musicians to get started.

TL;DR

  • IndieArt Support Community (@hello@fedi.indieart.support): Vetted artist directory, built on the shoulders of the late, great Radio Free Fedi.
  • Bonkwave Community (bonkwave & notbonkwave hashtags): What is Bonk Wave? What is not Bonk Wave? That’s right, and it’s also a thriving community of fedi musicians.
  • Fair Trade Music Fridays (@ftmf@botgts.evilgeniusrobot.uk): Fair trade music recommendations every first Friday of the month.
  • The Indie Beat Television (@TIBtv): A consent driven live stream of indie music videos and animation from artists across the Fediverse, with links to artists.

Thoughts on ““How do I connect with artists on the Fediverse?” Cheat Sheet

  1. @mixtape Don’t forget the Other People’s Music reviews by @etherdiver!

    1. @MOULE @mixtape the list could be much longer, but we kept it short and focused for the TL;DR crowd. We do link to @etherdiver OPM posts every week in our Reviews section, but note that the featured artists aren’t always present on the fedi.

      1. @sknob @MOULE @mixtape Your support is appreciated and, for the record, I would ADORE featuring more fedi artists but for whatever reason that stream has largely dried up.

If you have reach to Fedi musicians who don't know of me, or have tuned me out, please encourage them to participate!
